King & Spalding Once Again Earns Top Spot on Global Arbitration Review’s GAR 30 Ranking

Global Arbitration Review has once again selected King & Spalding as the top international arbitration practice worldwide in its 18th edition of the “GAR 30” guide to the world’s leading international arbitration practices.

Global Arbitration Review noted the practice “built its name on results” with a client stating King & Spalding is “the best international arbitration team on the market.” It is the fifth time in six years that the firm has claimed the top spot.

The publication highlighted the international arbitration group’s strong results for clients, including:

  • a successful denial of justice claim for Chevron against Ecuador, establishing that a US$9 billion local court judgment holding the company liable for environmental damage was ghost-written;
  • helping Chevron and Shell win an ICC dispute with the Philippines over back taxes – an award the firm has said is worth US$4 billion;
  • a US$2 billion ICSID award for Spain’s Naturgy and Italy’s Eni against Egypt over an LNG plant, which was settled;

The GAR 30 also quotes King & Spalding’s clients describing the firm’s practice as “truly impressive when it comes to complex, high-exposure work,” “committed and highly skilled” and “very pragmatic.”
