Brussels
Our Brussels office opened in 2019 and is the firm’s 21st location globally. The lawyers in the office advise companies in the EU and around the world across a broad range of antitrust and competition, international trade and life sciences regulatory matters.
We leverage our Europe-wide International Trade practice to help clients navigate complex international trade law, including trade remedy investigations, trade and tariff policy, customs, export controls, sanctions, and the full spectrum of market access issues. We regularly advocate for European manufacturers, industries, and associations that face unfairly-traded imports in the EU market – or trade barriers in export markets. Led by partners Arnoud Willems and Bregt Natens, Brussels serves as an EU hub for our international trade team.
Our Brussels-based Life Sciences team, part of the firm’s 300+ lawyer global practice, is led by Geneviève Michaux and focuses on EU, French and Belgian food and drug law with an emphasis on regulatory issues associated with pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, cosmetics and food.
Clients across a wide array of industries turn to our Brussels office for advice on a range of antitrust and competition matters, including merger control filings to the European Commission and other competition authorities, strategic coordination of multijurisdictional filings around the world, cartel and abuse of dominance investigations, high-stakes litigation and arbitration, cooperation and distribution agreements, and day-to-day advice on competition compliance and risk management. The Brussels antitrust team is led by Salomé Cisnal de Ugarte and works closely with the Firm’s Global Antitrust Group.
