Kathy Poppitt has extensive experience in healthcare industry issues. As a partner in our Healthcare and Government and Internal Investigations practices, Kathy advises clients on healthcare regulations, administrative law and litigation.
Kathy represents clients in a wide array of regulatory and reimbursement matters. She helps clients to assess the application of regulations to their businesses or practices, and advises insurance companies on state and federal compliance with plan filings, updates and related matters. She also counsels healthcare providers and facilities on compliance, including Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies and procedures.
Kathy advises clients regarding administrative, state and federal regulatory enforcement proceedings, as well as in defending Medicare and Medicaid fraud and overpayment allegations. She works with clients on conducting clinical trials, and counsels providers and facilities on peer review and credentialing matters.
In addition, Kathy has represented clients in reimbursement disputes with payors of all types in administrative hearings, state district court trials and appeals. She also represents clients in joint venture, physician recruiting and employment, and other healthcare-related structuring and contracting matters.
A regular author and presenter on healthcare law topics, Kathy is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association. She has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leader in her field from 2008-current, and selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, 2009-current.
