Julian is an associate in King & Spalding’s London office and a member of the International Arbitration practice. His practice involves commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, international law, as well as arbitration-related litigation and enforcement proceedings.
Julian counsels clients in a variety of industries, including in the oil & gas, mining, renewable energy, aviation, telecommunications and manufacturing industries. He handles disputes under all major institutional rules, including the ICC, ICSID, AAA, LCIA, DIFC-LCIA, CRCICA and ICDR Rules, as well as ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL Rules. His practice also involves court proceedings in relation to arbitration, including recognition and enforcement proceedings, freezing injunctions and other interim relief, and white collar disputes in (among others) US federal and state courts and in the UK, BVI, Jersey, Hong Kong and Singapore courts. He has particular experience in quantum and corruption issues.
Julian received an LL.B from the London School of Economics (LSE), an LL.M from the LSE (with Distinction) and an LL.M from Columbia Law School, from which he graduated as a Kent Scholar and a Lloyd N Cutler International Law Fellow. Before joining the firm, Julian was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) as a Queen Mother Scholar, and gained experience at a number of institutions (including the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (Appeals Chamber)) in The Hague, Kampala, Basel, Colombo, New York and London.
Julian is admitted to the New York and English Bars, though he is not a practicing lawyer in England & Wales. He is a dual national of the UK and Sri Lanka, and speaks English and French.
