David L. Stone is a capital transactions attorney in our Corporate, Finance and Investments practice group located in our Washington, D.C. office. David advises domestic and multi-national private equity funds, institutional investors, and public and private companies in their commercial equity and debt investments throughout the United States and across the globe. David represents clients in structuring, negotiating, and closing single asset and large portfolio equity and debt transactions across a broad spectrum of corporate matters and commercial real estate asset classes, including shopping centers, data center properties, hotels, resorts, branded residence developments, office buildings, multi-family/residential communities, student housing campuses, senior housing facilities, industrial warehouses, distribution centers, storage facilities, manufactured housing assets, urban and suburban retail locations, mixed-use projects, infrastructure projects, and healthcare real estate. David also advises clients on how best to reposition distressed assets and loans, including workouts, modifications and restructures, deeds-in-lieu and foreclosures, and loan purchases and sales
David is completely client-focused and results-driven and is able to see beyond the particular challenges of a transaction in order to serve as a catalyst to closing it. David has been recognized by his peers as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers for six (6) consecutive years - 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, and 2018.
A frequent panelist and speaker on real estate matters, David is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at Georgetown University in the Master's of Real Estate graduate program.
David is considered a thought leader and expert in implementing cutting edge legal technology and knowledge management capabilities in his law practice. In this capacity, David has given lectures and provided trainings to hundreds of other attorneys and legal professionals.
