SINGAPORE and TOKYO, October 17, 2022 — King & Spalding announced today that international technology transactions lawyer Damien Bailey has joined the firm’s Corporate, Finance and Investments (CFI) practice group as a partner. Bailey is resident in Sydney, Australia, and will spend significant time in the firm’s Middle East, Singapore and Tokyo offices.
Bailey’s practice focuses on data, digital, technology and telecommunications transactions, including infrastructure rollouts, technology transformation projects, outsourcing and cloud arrangements, systems integration and separation, new technologies, and sports and gaming. He has extensive experience advising global telecom operators, global technology companies, corporates and governments throughout Asia, the Middle East and Australia.
“Damien gives us an exciting opportunity to expand our cross-border technology transactions capabilities,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s CFI practice group. “Damien’s experience and connections add significant breadth and depth to the firm’s highly regarded Technology Transactions and Sourcing practice, and complement our M&A, Global Human Capital and Compliance, and Projects practices. He brings a strong entrepreneurial spirit that will be key to uncovering new opportunities for us in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.”
Bailey joins the firm from KPMG Law in Sydney, where he was a partner. Previously, he was a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills and served as its Global Co-Head of Telecommunications. Prior to that, he led the Asia-Pacific TMT practice at Simmons & Simmons in Hong Kong. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of New South Wales and his Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Bond University. He is admitted in NSW, Australia and Hong Kong.
“I have known and worked with many of my new King & Spalding colleagues previously, so the opportunity to combine forces once again and to be part of this firm’s highly collaborative culture is very appealing to me,” said Bailey. “I am looking forward to being part of the firm’s exciting global growth in the technology sector.”
