People

Jun Bautista is counsel in King & Spalding’s Singapore office, and is a member of the International Arbitration practice group.  He has represented clients across a number of industries in international arbitrations under various rules as well as ad hoc proceedings, with a particular focus on Asia.  Legal directories describe Jun as "...very effective, and knows what the client wants…” and “praise his strong technical ability and commercial approach.”

Jun is admitted to practice in New York and the Philippines and is familiar with both civil and common law systems.

Prior to joining King & Spalding, Jun was based in Hong Kong for almost a decade and worked in the international arbitration groups of two major international law firms.  He was also previously the founding director of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) in Singapore, an associate at a leading Philippine law firm, and a law clerk for Justice Conchita Carpio Morales of the Philippine Supreme Court.

In addition to representing clients, Jun has been teaching international arbitration in the Philippines since 2009.  He is currently teaching international arbitration at the University of the Philippines College of Law LL.M. program and the Angeles University Foundation School of Law.  He has also taught at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law.

Jun is a founding member and a former co-chair of HK45, a group for young arbitration practitioners based in Asia.  He is also member of the ICC Taskforce on the New York Convention.

Jun has been listed as an “Arbitration Future Leader” by Who’s Who Legal.  He has also been recognized in Chambers GlobalChambers Asia Pacific and Legal 500.

Represented two international oil majors in an ICC arbitration against a Southeast Asian government arising out of a revenue-allocation dispute under a gas service contract. Our clients secured declaratory relief valued at over USD 3 billion.

Represented two infrastructure companies in a SIAC arbitration concerning several infrastructure projects in the Philippines. Our clients secured declaratory relief confirming share ownership in the joint venture.

Represented a Philippine power producer in a USD 80 million shareholder’s dispute concerning a call option. The case settled favorably.

Represented a Philippine mining company in a USD 70 million shareholders’ dispute. The case settled favorably.

Represented a Chinese petrochemical company under the UNCITRAL rules concerning the alleged breach of a foreign company’s proprietary know-how. The case involved novel questions of Chinese procedural law as well as court proceedings in Mainland China.

Represented a Philippine conglomerate in an ad hoc arbitration relating to vessel specifications. All claims against our client were dismissed.

Represented a state owned enterprise in ICC proceedings in Singapore concerning a supply contract. All claims against our client were dismissed.
