People

Matt Brigman is business lawyer with experience litigating complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts across the country. Matt has particular experience defending companies against consumer class actions. This includes successfully defending multiple Fortune 500 companies against class actions alleging fraud, breach of contract, and violation of state and federal consumer protection laws.

Matt has particular expertise defending data breach class actions, having guided clients through the incident response process to defending ensuing class action lawsuits in some of the largest and most complex data breaches in the country’s history.

In addition to his class action work, Matt maintains a robust, traditional business litigation practice. Matt has successfully litigated numerous high-stakes business disputes on both the plaintiff and defendant side, including trying multiple cases to verdict. These cases have involved disputes over prominent real estate developments, claims of stolen intellectual property, and alleged professional malpractice. Matt is a co-author of a treatise on Georgia business litigation, and is regularly consulted for advice on litigating business tort claims under Georgia law.

Before joining the firm, Matt was an associate with a boutique commercial litigation firm in Atlanta. Matt also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Harold L. Murphy of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Matt is on the board of directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and Trees Atlanta, a local non-profit dedicated to preserving Atlanta’s urban forest.
