In the CY 2024 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System Final Rule, CMS finalized proposed changes to its Hospital Price Transparency regulations—which require hospitals to make public the standard charges of the items and services they provide. The final rule dictates the form and format that hospitals must use to display their standard charges, requires hospitals to encode all applicable standard charge information for an expanded set of data elements, and enhances CMS’s enforcement processes for noncompliance.
