King & Spalding secured a victory for client Monsanto Company in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The trial involved claims that a plaintiff’s use of Roundup caused her to develop Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
After a three-week trial, the 12-person jury delivered a complete defense verdict after five hours of deliberation. The Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas was recently ranked Number 1 in the American Tort Reform Association’s list of most difficult jurisdictions for corporate defendants as a prolific producer of nuclear verdicts.
Kim Bueno served as trial counsel. The King & Spalding team on the ground in Philadelphia also included Chris Cowan, Patrick Price, Sandi Staskus and Christine Allen.
