King & Spalding represented Nikola Corporation, a producer of battery and hydrogen fuel cell trucks, in the sale of its interest in the Phoenix Hydrogen Hub hydrogen project, located in Arizona, to Fortescue Future Industries. Fortescue is pursuing a global green energy development strategy targeting the decarbonization of industrial sectors, such as heavy industry and long-haul transportation. Nikola undertook development of the Phoenix Hydrogen Hub project as a strategic asset capable of underpinning its truck hydrogen fueling station build out, and providing fuel to Nikola-produced hydrogen fuel cell trucks operating in the southwestern United States.
