King & Spalding Founding Partner of New Pro Bono Legal Program with the Professional Tennis Players Association

King & Spalding, alongside Weil, Gotshal & Manges, is one of two founding legal partners of the Professional Tennis Players Association’s (PTPA) pioneering legal program, Athlete Counsel & Equity (ACE), that will ensure tennis players worldwide have access to international legal counsel and due process.

ACE, which was co-founded by WTA player Tara Moore, will provide professional tennis players faced with unfamiliar legal processes and investigations with pro-bono support through King & Spalding and Weil. The scheme is the first of its kind in tennis, ensuring equitable access to world-class legal expertise, regardless of a player’s financial standing and personal resources. The program will primarily focus on assisting players with contentious cases related to anti-doping and anti-corruption issues – areas often fraught with high stakes and legal complexity. After an initial intake of each case, the PTPA will connect players with legal counsel to provide services at no cost.

The King & Spalding team supporting the PTPA includes Tom Sprange KC, Charity Kirby and Liam Petch.
