GATT DC has honored King & Spalding government matters associate Lucas Queiroz Pires with its 2024 LGBTQ+ Trade Person of the Year award.
Pires is a member of the firm's international trade team. A dual-qualified lawyer in the U.S. and Brazil, he assists international companies in trade compliance, regulatory, litigation, and other cross-border needs. Pires focuses on international trade matters, including trade remedies, customs, tariffs, trade policy, and sanctions. GATT DC noted Pires’ pro bono victories, including securing asylum for LGBTQ+ individuals persecuted in their home countries, the release of LGBTQ+ individuals wrongfully detained in foreign countries, and the return of a child wrongfully removed from her home country under the Hague Convention of International Child Abduction.
