China Issues A Three-year Action Plan for the Cloud Computing Industry

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the Peoples Republic of China (MIIT) published the Cloud Computing Development Three-year Action Plan (2017 2019) ( Plan) on April 10, 2017, to promote the healthy and fast development of Chinas emerging cloud computing industry. The Plan sets the goal of having an RMB 430 billion cloud computing industry by 2019. The Plan also encourages Chinese cloud computing companies to explore and expand the global market, enhance participation in the world cloud computing industry, and actively absorb global sources including open source technology. The Plan gives priority to supporting industry-academia cooperation in improving key and core technologies, improving cloud computing standard system, deepening cloud service testing, supporting software companies to transform into cloud computing service suppliers, cultivating backbone leading companies, actively promoting cloud computing service in manufacturing and government affairs, and improving and promoting a safe environment for cloud computing services. To effectuate these goals, the Plan calls on policy banks, industrial investment institutions, and guarantee institutions to increase support, including credit loan support for cloud computing companies.
