Women’s Initiatives

We have come a long way since Ruth West became the first woman promoted to partnership at King & Spalding almost 40 years ago. As of January 2020, women accounted for 45% of our associates and 23% of the partnership. Through mentoring relationships and targeted professional development programs women continue to succeed at King & Spalding.

Alliance Groups

We support women’s alliance groups in offices around the world. Each alliance group has its own leadership, focus and budget, and each alliance group is responsible for the planning and execution of activities for their group. Last year our women alliance groups hosted over 20 different events worldwide. A few of the events include a client event featuring a renowned external communications specialist, hosted an event on career advancement, leadership and the challenges of female attorneys who are mothers and a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) event for clients and the girls in their lives.

Connecting Women in the Middle East

“Shortly after arriving to Dubai in 2017, I, along with the Middle East Women’s Alliance, created the K&S Connect Initiative in the Middle East. I am proud we have created an exceptional and growing forum for female networking, distinguishing King & Spalding’s women lawyers regionally and globally.”
