WASHINGTON, September 16, 2014 — Nikesh Jindal has joined King & Spalding as a counsel in its business litigation practice in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Jindal will concentrate primarily on appellate and healthcare litigation matters. He joins King & Spalding from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
Jindal has substantial experience representing companies and trade associations in high-profile litigation matters related to administrative law and healthcare issues. Among his matters, he has managed litigation efforts in multiple qui tam law suits arising under Medicare and Medicaid; represented a leading health insurance company in connection with an audit investigation by CMS seeking to recover tens of millions of dollars in alleged overpayments under the Medicare Advantage program; successfully represented America’s Health Insurance Plans in litigation to have the state of Georgia’s “prompt pay” healthcare statute declared unlawful and enjoined on the basis that it was preempted under ERISA; and successfully represented clients in challenges to significant rulemakings by federal agencies.
Earlier in his career, Jindal was associate general counsel in the Office of Management and Budget within the executive office of President George W. Bush and senior counsel at the U.S. Department of Energy. He is co-chair of the health and human services committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice. Jindal received his law degree from Yale Law School, and he graduated summa cum laude with an A.B. degree in economics from Dartmouth College.
