ATLANTA, June 5, 2014 — King & Spalding will host the local judging competition for the national Youth About Business Summer Business Camp Program—an innovative approach to exposing high school students from diverse backgrounds to the world of high-level corporate finance—at the firm’s Atlanta office on June 6.
King & Spalding corporate partner Keith M. Townsend will serve as a judge, along with representatives of Nissan, SunTrust, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Beecher Carlson and JP Morgan.
Fifty-four students, including 21 from eight area high schools, are taking part in the Atlanta program. Participants lived in residence halls on the Emory University campus during the first week of June, where they got a taste of college life and interacted with professionals from the corporate community to develop their thinking skills, analytical abilities and strategy in the business disciplines of marketing, finance, accounting, law and technology.
Youth About Business, an innovative leadership training program for youth in underserved communities, was founded in 1992 by Creating an Environment of Success, a Tennessee-based 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. Youth About Business Summer Business Camp was developed seven years later and has since become the organization’s cornerstone program. For more information, visit www.youthaboutbusiness.org.
