Samaa Haridi and Louie Llamzon Spoke at the 26th International Council for Commercial Arbitration Congress


Samaa Haridi (New York) and Louie Llamzon (Washington, D.C.) spoke at the 26th International Council for Commercial Arbitration Congress in Hong Kong on May 7th. 

Samaa participated as a panelist in a session titled “It’s not just Semantics – the Hidden Power of Language.” That session examined how much the language used in an arbitration shapes the process and influence the outcomes, and whether the language of arbitration come with conscious and unconscious cultural norms and conventions and whether fluency helps or hinders advocates.

Louie moderated a session titled “Costs and Economics,” which examined the costs incurred by the parties to an arbitration at various stages of the proceedings, security for costs applications, the barriers for impecunious parties, and the impact that third party funding might have on these issues (and recent legislative developments.
